Where are you from and what's the female surf community like there?
I was born and raised in Lennox Head, NSW.
The female surf community is great, there are loads of awesome women in the ocean and always someone to go for a wave with. The groms around here are amazing and there is so much up and coming talent.
If we came to visit you in Lennox, where would you take us? What would we do? And where are the coldest beers at??
If you were to come to Lennox, we would find a wave to surf, or get the jet ski out for a tow foil.
Then definitely would jump on board the yacht, go for a sail and find somewhere amazing to jump in the water and go for a free dive.
The coldest beers hmm…. Shorty’s Lennox Head or the back deck of our yacht hahah.
Sea Scoundrels...what is it? What influenced you to start it? It looks epic and the team at SG HQ are so intrigued..
Sea Scoundrels is a social media platform that my partner and I created together, to share our adventures and pretty much the ins and outs of our lives.
In February of 2022, my partner Angus and I travelled to Fiji, where we jumped on board our friend’s yacht and sailed down the Coral Coast of Fiji for a few weeks. From there on we were hooked and had a dream to one day live that life ourselves. At the end of 2022 we made that dream a reality and purchased out own floating home, “Coolrunnings1.”
We thought by creating a separate social media platform from our personals, it would be a fun way too share our journey, the boating life and all the adventures we get up to in between. We slowly started posting photos and reels on our Instagram page then decided to create a YouTube channel where we have been documenting different parts/things we have been getting up to lately.
We have already uploaded two episodes, one is the month we spent in Indonesia and the second is our life in January, hopefully will be posting monthly episodes of our life on our YouTube.
Talk to us about foiling...how did you get into that?
When I met my partner Angus, he was an absolute frother for foiling, so didn’t leave much choice but to give it a crack myself. I was hesitant at first and didn’t really think I’d be able to do it, but quickly fell in love. We were lucky enough to get a deal with Armstrong Foils, which gave us some amazing opportunities and allowed us to be riding the best gear out there.
Where we live offers so many incredible locations to foil, we are very spoilt.
When we were in Indonesia, the Armstrong crew reached out and invited us on a team day. They hired a few speed boats and got to tow some awesome lumps in Sanur which was an amazing experience.
Any highlights from the year that's passed?
2022 was a huge year for me and feel overly grateful for all the opportunities I had and everything that I was able to achieve. This is a little glimpse of my 2022, I managed too
- Travelled to Fiji
- Expanded my working opportunities, work independently and got a new job as PT at my gym (studying cert 3 in Fitness)
- Bought my first home
- Travelled to Indonesia
- Got engaged
Any big projects lined up for 2023?
2023 is looking exciting.
January was super busy with work, but still managed to squeeze in loads of adventures. We are patiently waiting for our yacht to be ready, as is currently sitting on the hard stands in Cairns boat yard. Hopefully we will be sailing in home within the next few weeks.
But looking forward into the year the plan is to bring our floating home back to Ballina, then will move onto it and live onboard while we continue to work and fix the boat as we go. We don’t have any major travel plans lined up, the goal is to live on board and learn the ins and outs of the boat, while still doing small weekend trips here and there. We would love to get out to Lorde Howe Island for a sail and explore/
We are aiming to continue to document and share our life and all the highs and lows of living on a yacht, as well as all the crazy adventure we get up to along the way.
