A timely and beautifully produced short film by Bethany Mollenkof of the women from Textured Waves in collaboration with The Seea.
You can jump to the start of the short film at around the 25:00 min mark but we highly recommend watching the full length with the virtual round table moderated by Selema Masekela for open discussion and perspectives from the Textured Waves ladies. One of the best things in light of the last several months, and particularly with the recent intensity of the Black Lives Matter movement, is the opportunity we have, as a collective of oceanwomen, to rewrite the rules of our surf culture and do things differently, in our way, and with each other.
Hats off to the good folks at The Seea and Textured Waves, to the director, Bethany, and the entire production team for making this happen. If this campaign doesn't win the SIMA Women's Marketing Campaign of the Year for 2020 then something is seriously wrong in the surf industry and we need to make the people's vote (us - global oceanwomen!) heard.
